An alarm fault, a refurbishment or a change to the backstage route can bring equipment work onto your programme. The starting point is what needs attention and how that part of the venue is used.

  • Ageing equipment and recurring faults

    An unreliable reader at the stage door can be a daily frustration. Repeated alarm faults need investigating too. We’ll look at the equipment and its service history to discuss repair, replacement or a wider upgrade.

  • A different use for the space

    A refurbished bar, new partition or altered stage layout can affect detection and camera views. Bring the drawings into the conversation early so we can identify which installed systems the changes will affect.

  • Time to reach the equipment

    A day without a performance may still be full of rehearsals or load-in. We’ll agree access with your team, including any testing that needs a quiet building or work that interrupts an existing system.

Fire warning, camera coverage and backstage access

We work on the permanent systems in your building. You may need one door repaired, an alarm upgraded or several systems considered together; the equipment already installed helps determine the next step.

Fire alarms

We install and upgrade fire alarms for performance venues, considering the auditorium alongside foyers, dressing rooms and plant areas. The way each space is used matters when choosing detection and planning changes to an existing alarm.

Voice alarm and PA

A voice alarm system broadcasts emergency messages around the building. We install PAVA systems with loudspeaker coverage and the fire alarm connection planned together, taking account of the venue’s warning and evacuation arrangements.

Access control

Venue access control helps separate public areas from staff offices, stores and backstage rooms. We install card, fob and door entry systems, with permissions based on the doors each person needs to use.

  • Staff and visiting crews

    Permissions can be set by area and time on suitable systems, so crew access need not include the whole building.

  • Controlled doors and escape routes

    The door, its lock and how people leave in an emergency all inform the access control design.

Planning work at your venue

Can you maintain our existing venue security systems?

We can discuss maintenance for CCTV, access control and intruder alarms, as well as fire alarms. We’ll first check the equipment, its condition and whether we can support it. Your latest service report is useful, particularly if it records recurring faults. Visits, fault reporting and any call-out cover are set out in the maintenance agreement.

Is voice alarm the same as the sound system used for a show?

They serve different purposes. A voice alarm provides emergency warning messages and may also support everyday public-address announcements. A concert sound system is used for the performance. We’ll check what your existing equipment does and how it connects to the fire alarm before discussing a replacement or extension.

Can you help if our fire risk assessment needs updating?

Yes. Fire risk assessments can be arranged through Centurion, with a written report and prioritised actions. Tell us about the building and any changes to its use. If you already have an assessment, share the actions relevant to the equipment work so we can discuss what needs attention.
