Questions about fire detection on waste sites

Can thermal cameras detect batteries buried in waste?

You should not rely on them to find a buried battery. Thermal cameras can help identify temperature changes in the areas they can see, but material covering a battery can conceal the problem. We’ll discuss the intended coverage and its limits as part of the camera design. Detection is one part of your site’s wider fire precautions.

Can fire alarms and CCTV be managed remotely?

They can be on a suitably designed system. At Augean’s Kirkby site, we installed fire detection and thermal CCTV that can be managed on site or remotely. For your site, we’ll need to check the equipment and connection, then discuss who receives each alert and what happens when the site is closed.

Can you maintain equipment installed by another company?

Often, yes, after checking what’s installed and its condition. Send us the alarm and camera details with recent service reports. Tell us about nuisance alarms, unclear images or recordings you cannot retrieve, so we can explain what we can support and what may need attention first.
