About this sector

Centurion in football stadiums

Football stadiums and live event venues present some of the most demanding fire and security environments in any sector. Tens of thousands of people, complex multi-zone buildings, and mandatory compliance with the Guide to Safety at Sports Grounds place specific obligations on every system installed. The consequences of a failure are not commercial — they are life-safety.

Centurion has been designing and maintaining fire and security systems for football clubs, live event arenas and sports grounds for over a decade. Named clients include Fulham FC, Barnsley FC, AFC Wimbledon, Reading FC and Sheffield FC, alongside five major Northern arenas including First Direct Arena in Leeds, Sheffield Arena and Hull Connexin Live Arena. We understand the operational realities of venue environments — matchday constraints, year-round event calendars, and systems that must perform reliably when every seat is occupied.

Our engineers plan all works around fixture schedules and event programmes, coordinating with stadium operations and ground safety officers to ensure zero disruption. Every system is commissioned and documented to current Green Guide standards, with PPM contracts structured around the venue's annual calendar.

Why this sector is different

The challenges we solve

02

Green Guide Compliance

The Guide to Safety at Sports Grounds sets specific requirements for fire detection, emergency lighting, access control and PAVA. Every system must be designed and documented to the current edition.

03

Multi-Use Event Programming

Stadiums host football, concerts, corporate events and community use. Systems must support different occupancy configurations, access permissions and evacuation protocols across all event types.

04

Perimeter & Access Control at Scale

Large perimeters, multiple turnstile banks, segregated concourses and restricted zones require access control and CCTV designed for operational scale and ground safety officer oversight.

05

Emergency Voice Communication

PAVA systems must integrate with fire detection to deliver clear, compliant emergency messaging across every area of the ground — from public concourse to pitch-side and press facilities.

Common questions

Football stadiums sector FAQs

We answer the questions football club and venue managers ask us most. Can't find what you need? Call 0800 590 592.

Can you work around matchday fixtures and event schedules?
Yes. We plan all installation and maintenance works around the venue's event calendar. Disruptive works are scheduled during closed periods — pre-season, mid-week gaps or close-season windows — and we coordinate with stadium operations teams to confirm access.
Do you design systems to the Guide to Safety at Sports Grounds?
Yes. The 6th edition of the Green Guide informs how we design fire detection, emergency lighting, access control and PAVA systems for sports grounds. Every system is commissioned and documented to current Green Guide standards, with full handover documentation for the ground safety officer.
Can you cover both the stadium and training ground on one contract?
Yes. We design and maintain systems across all club-owned premises on a single PPM contract with consolidated reporting. This includes the stadium, training ground, academy facilities and commercial offices.
Do your access control systems integrate with turnstile management?
Yes. Our access control systems integrate with turnstile management and visitor access platforms. We configure zone-based access for players, media, staff and contractors separately from public areas — all manageable from a central administration interface.
Can your CCTV systems meet both club security and stadium licensing requirements?
Yes. We design CCTV systems that meet both club security requirements and the CCTV obligations set out in the stadium safety certificate and local licensing conditions. Systems are installed and documented to BS EN 62676 for review by the local authority safety officer.
