Hoyer CCTV & Access Control

Background

Hoyer is a global bulk liquids logistics firm, transporting gas, petroleum, food and chemicals.
Its UK offices are based in Huddersfield, which also acts as the headquarters for the road tankers which operate from the 14-acre site.

Assessing the security requirements

Considering that the world is often a dangerous place, and with Hoyer distributing hazardous goods – with regular audits to ensure they are complying with regulations – it is important they take security seriously.

After considering several security specialists, Centurion was chosen to create a bespoke CCTV and access system. Hoyer was impressed with our approach to technology, in particular, our in-house CCTV demo suite, where they were able to compare the different systems available.

Centurion Bespoke solution

After several site meetings with Hoyer, Centurion designed and fine-tuned a CCTV and access system that would deliver the high-security requirements for the site.

An integrated Milestone CCTV system of 45 HD cameras including ANPR cameras linked by fibre optic cabling was installed in 2014. Simultaneously, a Net2 door-entry access control solution was fitted, with 20 cameras, seven intercom call stations and road barriers integration. The site is almost entirely automated. Since then, additional cameras have been added year after year, which now totals 61 cameras. Regular software upgrades also take place, to ensure the CCTV technology is up to date.

The result

Alan Rawlinson, site manager at Hoyer’s Huddersfield site, said:

“The system is essential for us. It gives us total peace of mind that nobody can gain unauthorised access to our site. It’s also saved us money in other, unexpected ways. A few site visitors have tried to claim from us for personal accidents slips/falls and vehicle damage, but CCTV images have proved them wrong and the claims have subsequently been dropped.

West Yorkshire Police also visit us quite often to ask for CCTV images, and it’s nice to be able to provide them with such clear footage.”

Speaking of his experience with Centurion, Alan continued:

“We are really pleased with Centurion, and it’s nice that they are a local company.
We have a good working relationship, I can phone them up for advice or problems that I cannot resolve over the phone, and I know Centurion will visit the site the same day to help/repair, as part of our ongoing maintenance contract.”
